There are many ways to cut metal CNC cutting machine. QiaolianCyilon will briefly introduce the laser cutting methods used on CNC cutting machines, compare the advantages and disadvantages of each process, and provide some criteria that can be used to determine which cutting method is best for your application.
Laser Cutting Machine
The laser cutting process is suitable for cutting medium carbon steels from a minimum thickness up to about 30mm. Beyond the 25mm range, all factors such as material (laser grade steel), gas purity, nozzle conditions and laser beam quality need to be correct for reliable cutting.
Laser processes are not very fast, because at their core, lasers are just a process of applying the extreme heat of a focused laser beam (not a preheating flame) to the material being cut. Therefore, its speed is limited by the speed of the chemical reaction between iron and oxygen. However, the precision of the laser process is extremely high. Very precise contours and small holes can be cut due to very narrow kerf widths. Edge quality is generally quite good, with minimal serrations and delay lines, very square edges and little or no dross.
Another great advantage of the laser process is reliability. Consumables are very long-lived and the machinery is highly automated, so many laser cutting jobs can be performed "unattended". Just imagine, put a whole sheet of steel on the workbench, press the "Start" button, and when you come back, there will be hundreds of parts cut and ready to unload.
Due to the complexity of beam delivery, CO2 lasers are not suitable for multi-head cutting on the same machine. However, fiber lasers can perform multiple cuts.
